Join us at the Park Slope Library for the
PSP Working Moms Clothing Swap
Bring what you can share.
Take what you can use.
We’ll donate the rest!
Come meet other Working Moms, bond, and get some "New to You" Clothes!
We'll start with a meet-and-greet and then get to swapping! We find that introducing ourselves, our jobs, and our fashion needs, helps folks pick out appropriate styles for each other!
---Please bring no more than 25 of your most swappable work items. (If you wouldn’t give it to your finicky sister-in-law, don’t bring it to the swap.)
---- We do not have a private changing area, so dress appropriately. Thin leggings and a tank top make it easy to try stuff on. Loose skirts make it easy to try on slacks.
---- Please let this be an adult-only event. It makes for a much nicer experience and you deserve some "me" time.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does it work?
-Bring items that you'd like to swap.
-Find other people's treasures which are organized by size.
-Try to take no more than what you brought, take what you need, and share the wealth.
-It’s always fun for everyone to find a “diamond in the rough” so if you find more than one of something great, leave it for the next person.
Reminder: Please wash all clothing and heat dry before wearing. Also PRESORT clothes by size to make it easy for us to put things out. Double-check for stains, rips and holes.
What is being swapped? Business or Business Casual work-appropriate clothes (loosely defined) INCLUDING Maternity work clothes!
- Stretchy pants
- Crop Pants
Remember to bring these as well:
- Business-appropriate diaper bags
- Brief cases
- Nursing Tops
NOTE: We're asking for a $5.00 contribution to hold your spot; that money is donated to the library.
Can we bring kids?
Having a clothing swap with kids just hasn’t worked in the past. It's hard to try on clothes if you're chasing toddlers or experiencing letdown with your baby hungry and crying. We also feel that there needs to be time away from our kids in order to recharge. Plus, giving partners time alone with the kids for two hours is great bonding (rather than “work”)! You can return the favor so your partner can get some recharge time as well.
What happens to the leftovers? Anything not swapped will be donated to a women’s career not-for-profit or Housing Works.
