Park Slope Parents and NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital's Child Life Team invite you and your child to our Sibling Preparation Class! This fun and interactive one-hour Sibling Preparation Class has been designed for children (4-10 years of age) who are about to have a new baby in the family and will soon be taking on the role of Big Brother or Big Sister. Children will have an opportunity to learn about their new role and each child will receive a certificate of class completion. Expert presenters will offer an age-appropriate description of pregnancy, explore feelings about becoming a big brother or sister, and what life may be like with a new baby. Suggestions and resources for answering questions about new babies and tips for managing sibling rivalry will be offered. Parent or guardian must attend this class with the child. We offer this class twice a year, so this may be the only class that we have while you're expecting--don't miss out!

Why attend? Studies have shown that children who have participated in a sibling preparation class exhibit fewer anxieties, are better able to express their feelings, and parents feels better able to cope with the older child when the infant arrives. Cost $25.00 per family (with $15.00 going to the NYP-Methodist Hospital NICU Fund). Due to space constraints we ask folks to limit to 1 adult and 1 child. Space is limited to 12 PSP Member Families. This workshop is co-sponsored by Park Slope Parents and NewYork-Presbyterian Methodist Hospital’s Child Life Team.
