Park Slope Parents and NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s Child Life Team invite you and your child to our Virtual Sibling Preparation Class! This fun and interactive 30-minute Sibling Preparation Class has been designed for children (3-8 years of age) who are about to have a new baby in the family and will soon be taking on the role of Big Brother or Big Sister. Children will have an opportunity to learn about their new role and each child will receive a certificate of class completion. Susan Franks, Senior Child Life Specialist, will offer an age-appropriate description of pregnancy, explore feelings about becoming a big brother or sister, and show a video of the maternity unit. Suggestions and resources for answering questions about new babies and tips for managing sibling rivalry will be offered. Parent(s) or guardian(s) must be on the Zoom with child(ren).
This class is best taken during the last four to six weeks of a mother’s pregnancy.
