PSP Sleepaway Camp 101 @ 826/Superhero Supply Company

Are you thinking about a sleepaway camp for your child/children? The camp search process can be overwhelming and frustrating! There are so many options out there, and it is hard to know where to begin.

PSP is excited to offer our first ever PSP Sleepaway Camp 101 Workshop providing a broad overview of the summer camp experience and helping to save you time and energy by focussing your research and refining your questions. The workshop will be led by Summer Camp Guru, Barb Levison from Tips on Trips & Camps

Here is what you will take away from the PSP Sleepaway Camp 101 Workshop

  • What kinds of questions should you be asking before beginning your sleepaway camp research?
  • Should your child go alone or with a friend?
  • Is there a “right” age to go to sleepaway?
  • How do you know if your child is ready?
  • How hard should you push if they are resistant?
  • How do sessions work at camp? Co-ed? Single Sex? Brother/Sister?
  • How do they differ?
  • What kinds of questions should you be asking camp directors if/when you speak with them?
  • Do you need to visit the camp in person?
  • Do you need to meet the director in person if you decide not to visit or if a visit is not possible?
  • Does your child need to visit the camp and/or talk to the camp director before attending?

Please RSVP as capacity is limited. Cost is $25.00/member and $30.00/nonmember. There are no refunds for PSP events. This is an adults-only workshop, please try to secure care for your children if you are attending.

Barb Levison from Tips on Trips and Camps understands the nuanced differences and can read between the lines for parents. Through site visits, relationships with camp directors, and feedback from families, she knows all about sleepaway camp and can help narrow the options, guide, and advise. Barb was a 12-year-camper and counselor and is a self professed "campaholic". An attorney in her former work life, she loves to help families find outstanding summer programs. Tips on Trips and Camps is a free advisory service that helps parents find the sleepaway camp or other summer program that best fits their children.
