Work, PAUSE, Thrive Discussion with Lisen Stromberg @ 8:00pm

Have you considered pausing* your career while you have babies or young children? Join PSP and Lisen Stromberg, author of Work PAUSE Thrive: How to Pause for Parenthood without Killing Your Career for a discussion on what a pause might look like.

*A pause can mean different things to different people! It can mean completely leaving the workforce for a time, or merely reducing your hours at work!

"Deeply rooted in social science research and cutting-edge data collected from nearly 1,500 women, and through 186 first-person interviews, Work PAUSE Thrive: How to Pause for Parenthood without Killing Your Career details how trailblazing women disrupt the traditional career paradigm to achieve their personal and professional goals. It also details how and why the systems in which we work and live hold both women and men back from living their fullest lives. And, it reveals new and exciting trends in the workplace and offers targeted solutions to help ensure each of us can thrive."

In this Zoom discussion, Lisen will share her research and answer your questions.

Review by Park Slope Parents member Emma Noftz Stern
It was fascinating to learn a majority of birthing people with E-Suite level jobs take a “pause” when they have young children. A pause means different things to different people- completely leaving the workforce, working part-time, cruising at a comfortable workplace, or not seeking the next promotion. What was interesting is the extent birthing people go to hide pauses from their resumes. But, the encouraging take away is that there is a blueprint for how to do this!

This discussion will be recorded, but please join us on October 1st to talk to Lisen in real time!

When: Tuesday, October 1st
Time: 8:00pm - 9:00pm

Lisen
After the birth of her second child, Lisen Stromberg did something she never imagined she would do: she opted out to focus on her family. But her career didn’t end there. Lisen paused then pivoted to become first a social entrepreneur and then an award-winning journalist writing about women, work, and life in Silicon Valley. Along the way, she learned she wasn’t alone. Lisen met many highly successful women who told her they never “opted out” but who had, in fact, temporarily downshifted or paused their careers. Their hidden journeys revealed alternative nonlinear paths to the top that enabled them to achieve their personal and professional goals.

In Work PAUSE Thrive, Lisen shares their stories. Deeply rooted in social science research, cutting-edge data collected from nearly 1,500 women, and through 186 first-person interviews, this book reveals how trailblazing women have disrupted the traditional career paradigm. What worked for them can work for you.
