About this event
This event has been postponed due to the winter storm.
The new date is February 5, 2022, 3:00pm - 5:00pm. More details here.
BKCM ushers in the Year of the Tiger with an outdoor Lunar New Year celebration for the whole family.
The afternoon will include traditional and contemporary Chinese music, a lion dance, crafts, calligraphy and much more. The vibrant celebration will weave together presentations and activities curated by local cultural organizations and partners, including Brooklyn Lion Club, Tea Arts & Culture, Children's Chinese Book Garden and Chinese Theatre Works.
Guests will enjoy a performance by BKCM faculty member Annie Chen, a vocalist, composer and bandleader originally from Beijing, China, as well as storytime in Cantonese with Michelle Huang and in Mandarin with Babyda’s Mandarin Story Time host Yijia Bu (who hosted 2021’s virtual Lunar New Year event).
RSVP using the RSVP HERE button on the right. You will be asked to choose a time: 2:00pm - 3:15pm, or 2:45pm - 4:00pm. Though there is no cost for this event, donations will help BKCM continue to produce free events that celebrate the vibrancy of the community.
To ensure the safety of attendees, all activities will be held outdoors in the BKCM garden and on our surrounding block. In addition, all attendees will be required to wear masks.
