PSP/Green-Wood Event: How To Talk To Kids About Death
Wondering how to help kids cope with death (and impending death)? We can help!
For those dealing with this now, or those who think this will be an issue in the near-future (and trust me, it will), Green-Wood Cemetery is hosting a workshop for PARENTS about talking to kids about death.
G-W has been a great partner with us on the Park Slope Parents Stroller Tours and Family Scavenger Hunt and we’re partnering with them this year to do some events around understanding and commemorating death.
The first of these events is:
How To Talk to Kids About Death
How do we explain death and dying to our children? How much should they know and when? How can a pet’s death or a grandparent’s declining health be explained in a way that’s understandable? How can we engage their curiosity, talents, and emotions in funeral practices and traditions?
Join funeral director and death educator Amy Cunningham and child and adolescent psychotherapist and registered play therapist Liana Smith-Murphy for an enlightening conversation on the best practices for discussing death with children.
This program is intended for PARENTS with children of any age.
