Ellen Friedrichs, health educator, will share helpful recommendations for what to say to your middle schooler, what you can stop worrying about, and how you can make this communication as healthy, informative, and comfortable as possible.

 

We will look at how to talk about everything from sex ed basics, to porn and consent. We will also cover how to talk to middle schoolers who are already sexually active (yes, they exist), as well as how to talk to kids who are years away from sex.

 

Parents will walk away with concrete strategies for bringing up tricky topics without alienating their kids or backpedaling out of embarrassment.

About Ellen Friedrichs

 

Ellen Friedrichs, MA, is a health educator, writer, and mom of three kids (10, 7 and 17 months). For the past nine years, Ellen has been the director of health education at St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn Heights. Ellen is also an adjunct lecturer in the health and nutrition sciences department at Brooklyn College where she teaches human sexuality.  She is a contributing writer for the website everydayfeminism.com and runs About.com's LGBT teens website.
