Public High School Choice: Loud & Clear with Joyce Szuflita @ 7:00pm

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND, PLEASE EMAIL: events@parkslopeparents.com

Please join PSP and Joyce Szuflita for Public High School Choice, Loud & Clear on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:00pm.

This two-hour webinar will prepare families for the NY High School Fair and tours in the fall - whether they're virtual or IRL. The DOE has many good programs and publications, but this talk is from the point of view of a parent who has been there and understands what you need to know and why. Joyce will describe the process quickly and clearly without the deadly powerpoint used elsewhere.

Time will tell what tweaks will be incorporated in the High School process due to Covid. You can't process understanding the changes without knowing the baseline of how things are organized. As any changes come down, Joyce will reflect them in the webinars.

**PSP wants everyone to have the opportunity to attend our informational webinars. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please email: events@parkslopeparents.com.

The talk is designed for general-ed students. The parents of students with disabilities often find it useful to have this baseline, but there will be wrinkles to your search for which Joyce does not have expertise.

Joyce Szuflita will:

  • Give parents a practical strategy to organize and manage the search.
  • Help families understand how to interpret the data that is available.
  • Give everyone tough love and options.
  • Focus on what you need to know and when from a parent's point of view.
  • Impart a little advice on what the high school choice means for the college search.

While Joyce will use some schools as examples for clarity, she will not go into detail about individual programs (there are 700 of them, so...) That is what she does in a private consultation.

Here is what one parent had to say about one of Joyce's talks:
"...I was so impressed - I laughed, I cried :) - I left feeling not only informed but mentored and coached from one parent to another - I truly appreciate the work you do, the energy you do it with and the humor you bring to the table to keep us all sane."
